Mansi Sharma Kachhara is an Army brat and a textile & print designer who now owns a footwear company.
Ever since she was a kid she had a strange fascination with footwear. She would borrow her mothers heels and walk around the house. Her mother had and still has, a huge collection of heels to go with all her different outfits. However, She never thought she’d ever make a career out of it. She has always had an inclination towards design and that’s why she went to National Institute of Fashion Technology(NIFT) to further enhance her skills in design.
Even though her love for footwear never alleviated she decided to join big design houses like Kunal Rawal and house of Anita Dongre after college.
However, she realised soon enough that she was more inclined towards footwear and so, she decided to leave her career as a textile designer
and start a footwear brand of her own called Prisca.
She started with designing shoes out of her house and got the first few samples made at small warehouses with the help of local vendors. To keep up with the trends and her vision, her vendors and the entire team is in a pursuit to produce handcrafted beautiful shoes which follow the long established, rich and bountiful art of shoemaking. But the designs are also so different from that in the Indian culture and hence, it is a challenge. Her partnership with the vendors has been both seamless and wonderfully joyful from the start.
One of the challenges she still faces is sourcing good quality raw materials and fabrics from the local markets as she doesn’t compromise on quality.
She wants her shoes to embrace a lifestyle and give the people something absolutely new from a brand that they can call their own.
“I hope our customers enjoy our footwear as much as I enjoy making it for them.” – Mansi
